Birke Falkenroth - Harp

“ Heavenly sounds coming from an impressive instrument.”

Birke Falkenroth was born in Friedrichshafen, Germany in 1981 and started harp lessons at the age of 10. After much success in the Jugend musiziert competition, she played with the Märkischen Symphony Youth Orchestra and later on in the Friedrichshafen Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Since 2004 she has been studying at the Music Academy in Karlsruhe under the instruction of Maria Stange. Falkenroth performs in national and international concerts, as well as for radio and television.

Her studies are supported by the Yehudi Mehuhin Foundation Live Music Now.

Falkenroth’s repertoire includes the standard works for harp solo including Pescetti, Spohr, Parish-Alvars, Saint-Saens, Grandjany, Tournier, Fauré, Debussy, Britten, Salzedo, as well as harp concertos and chamber music. The participation of various debut performances and projects with artists of the “U-music” is proof of her diversity.

Currently she performs in the Duo Arcopeggio together with the violinist Eva-Maria Vischi performing works by, for example, Rossini, Paganini, Saint-Saens, Fauré, Pachelbel, Donizetti, Bach, Schostakowitsch, Monti, Sarasate, and Joplin.
