| Yukako
                          Morikawa was born in Tokyo in 1976 and began piano
                          lessons already at the age of 4. From 1989 until 1992
                          she took lessons from Prof. Aksuko Jinzai. The following
                          3 years she took lessons with Kyoko Ohashi at the Toho
                          Gauken Music High School. From 1995-96 Morikawa studied
                          at the Toho Gauken Music Academy and in 1997 she began
                          to study at the Berlin University of Arts under the
                          supervision of Profs. Martin Hughes and Rainer Becker.
                          In 1998 Yukako Morikawa was taught by Prof. Detlef
                          Kraus in Hamburg. In 2000 she took part in the Weimar
                          Masterclass by Prof. Bernard Ringeissen’s and
                          performed, amongst others, with the Jena Philharmonic.
                          In 2002 she visited the Hamamatsu Piano Academy, Japan,
                          and took lessons with Profs. Hiroko Nakamura, John
                          O’Connor, Sergio Perticaroli, Jacques Rouvier
                          and Oxana Jablonskaja. After having finished her Masters
                          degree in Berlin in 2003, Morikawa continued her studies
                          in solo performance at the Mannheim University of Music

                              Wittenberg, Germany.
 1997: 2nd prize in the International Piano Competition
                              for Young Pianists, Rome, Italy.
 2004: 2nd prize in the International Competition “Calabria”, Italy.
 2005: 3rd prize in the International Competition “Epinal”, France.

 Played as soloist in concerts with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, the Montbéliard
Orchestra, France, and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bacau, Rumania.
